Strawberry huller and slicer1/7/2024 We also appreciate that the tip creates perfectly rounded openings for garnishes and stuffing strawberries with fillings like Nutella or cheesecake. Simply twist to remove, release the button, and you’re ready to move on to your next berry. The metal piece grabs onto the berry stem without attaching to the surrounding fruit, meaning you won’t waste any part of the strawberry besides the stem and core. This model uses a simple push-button mechanism with a stainless steel tip. The Chef’n Orignal Stem Gen didn’t just catch our attention because of the clever name-it’s also one of the most popular and highly-rated strawberry hullers available. What's more, we think that the affordable price and efficiency that this tool provides more than makes up for any shortcomings. Several reviewers noted the bulky width, which may make it more awkward to store, but we found it smaller than expected and simple to stow away in the kitchen drawer alongside other cooking gadgets. We cleaned the tool both by handwashing and by simply tossing it in the dishwasher, which was super convenient. The blades were also sharp enough to pierce the berry easily, but not so sharp that we worried about the tool slipping and cutting our hands. The stem removal resulted in uniform, perfectly-round holes. The rounded blades and hinge design made it simple to target the stem and core regardless of size-we used it successfully on large, medium, and small berries-without losing any of the precious red fruit. Thanks to the ergonomic shape and soft signature "Good Grips" padding along the handles, it was comfortable to use even while working through several large baskets of farmers market strawberries. It felt incredibly light and contoured to the hand perfectly. We tested this strawberry huller ourselves and were very impressed with its performance. The hinges are spring-loaded, so you can easily tackle a large number of berries in mere seconds, and the stainless steel blades are rounded to create as little waste as possible. This strawberry huller incorporates a tong-style design with tapered blades that grab onto the berry’s stem and core to remove with a slight twist of the hand. The Oxo brand is known for its signature non-slip handles that provide a comfortable grip, even while handling wet ingredients.

Saturn sky redline for sale in ohio1/7/2024 The direct injection is another standard of efficiency. Expect to feel it kick in gently around 3500 rpm. Since the turbine is relatively lightweight, there is very little lag. An air-to-air intercooler helps out here, too. That routes a more continuous flow of exhaust to the turbo to keep it spinning faster and more efficiently. 4, which fire together, and the other scroll from No. The Red Line goes down in displacement to 2.0 liters but way up in induction, with a dual-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and dual exhausts.ĭual-scroll means there are two paths for the exhaust gases to reach the turbo, one takes exhaust from cylinders No. The base Sky makes do with a 2.4-liter four with sequential fuel injection and normal aspiration, as well as variable valve timing on its two overhead cams. The new engine gives plenty of smooth, even power all the way up to its 260-hp peak at 5300 rpm. You might not expect that with a turbocharger, but there it is. The engine is just as impressive as the ride in the roadster. These tires make for much quicker turns and faster transitions than the Eagle RSAs of the same size on the base Sky. Perhaps the biggest handling advantage the Red Line has over the base Sky is the P245/45R-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS2s. The basic four-wheel SLA suspension geometry is shared with the regular Sky. The coil springs are also unique to the Red Line, which sports a balance that is almost 50/50. To get all this, engineers took the basic Sky suspension and cranked it down just a little, adding 6.1 millimeters more hollow front stabilizer bar, making it 33.3 millimeters, and 1.2 millimeters more to the rear, for 25.4 millimeters. Okay, maybe we would give just a little more feeling through the fast-acting steering wheel and the hydraulic power rack-and-pinion, too, but that’s a tradeoff for the comfort. Other than that, it is a pleasure to pilot. The only real handling criticism for the Sky Red Line is a slight bounciness after it hits a bump, something we would tie down with a little more rebound control in the coil-over Bilstein monotube shocks, if we knew what we were doing. “I think it’s a lot more than a consumer would expect for this kind of car.” “At first we were looking at electronic stability control and the limited-slip differential as options, then we said, ‘Wait, let’s just do it right from the start,’” said program manager Darren Post, who rides sport bikes when he is not tuning Saturns. A limited-slip differential is also standard, a must-have for a serious sports car. The standard vehicle stability control system has three settings depending on your mood. A unique torque beam connects the transmission, driveshaft and differential to eliminate two mounting points to the frame that were causing too much NVH in early prototypes. The ride isolation is surprisingly pleasant without being numb. The Sky Red Line just floated over them, as it floated over everything else on smooth sections of Highway 101. Most have miles of filled-in potholes that any challenger could cite in the next municipal election. None are what you would call billiard-table smooth. All these roads are finely twisted around hilly contours their whole length. We drove a few Sky Red Lines through the canyon roads outside Santa Barbara, California, specifically Foxen Canyon Road, Ballard Canyon Road and Old Coast Highway, where it separates from Highway 101 just uphill from the ocean. In fact, had Saturn added some more storage pockets in the cockpit, you could unreservedly recommend the Sky Red Line to most moderate performance-minded buyers in the segment, all but the hard-core stopwatch clickers. After your 24 hours of whatever, your competitors would be perhaps beaten and sleepy while you could spring from the cockpit, if not the podium, ready to disco (if you’re really serious about racing this Red Line, do it at Mid-Ohio, where a lot of the suspension tuning took place). The tradeoff with the Sky Red Line is that it would still be within a few ticks of the competition’s lap times while being several ticks ahead in ride comfort (not to mention style). The Honda S2000, Mazda MX-5 (Miata) and BMW Z4 could probably all get around your garden-variety handling course just a bit quicker. There are competitors to the Saturn Sky Red Line that could probably lap your favorite racetrack faster.

In any case, all of the variants of BMP should be avoided when possible, as they use little to noĬompression and consequently have unnecessarily large file sizes.Īdobe's EPS format (Encapsulated PostScript) is perhaps the most common vector image format. Most modern image editing tools are able to read both. Own formats, both of which are called BMP. There are actually several BMP formats (BitMaP). Vector Magic recommends using the PNG format when storing logos as bitmaps. This format is widely supported by web browsers and image viewers/editors. The best of the lossless image formats is called PNG (Portable Network Graphics). They are more suitable for things like logos. These store an exact pixel-by-pixel representation of the image, but require more space. We do not recommend using JPEG files for rasterized vector art, as the compression artifacts substantially degrade the quality of the image near edges. It has excellent compression characteristics and has the nice feature that the user may specify what level of compression they desire, trading off fidelity for file size. One of the most widely-used image formats. They are also commonly used on the web to save bandwidth. They are best suited to photographs and other images where perfect accuracy is not important. Champaign trade secrets lawyer1/6/2024 Such allegations can have significant professional implications, in addition to legal and financial consequences. Where a particular process, technique, method, or practice may not be protectable under patent or copyright law, technology companies rely on trade secret law to safeguard sensitive information from disclosure to competitors and the public.Įmployees with access to such proprietary information may commit trade secret theft by utilizing the information they have access to for their personal benefit, or by disclosing that information to others. Engineer Theft of SecretsĪn area of concern for many Bay Area, Silicon Valley, and technology companies throughout California is the theft of trade secrets by employees, independent contractors, consultants, or others who have access to highly proprietary information. Trade secret theft occurs when confidential and proprietary information of a company is knowingly disclosed or used by someone without authorization for the financial benefit of someone other than the owner(s) of the trade secret. Similarly, individuals accused criminally or civilly of trade secret theft should consult an attorney who is knowledgeable and experienced in this area of the law to determine the best defenses against actual or threatened claims against them. Therefore, California businesses should seek legal counsel to determine the most appropriate way to protect their trade secrets. Like most employment practices in California, this is a heavily regulated aspect of running a business. However, California law disfavors certain kinds of anti-competitive clauses in contracts (such as clauses prohibiting an employee from working for a competitor after leaving employment). Most often, this information is protected through contracts and company policies such as non-disclosure clauses in employment contracts and independent contractor agreements, internal company policies about use and handling of sensitive information, terms and conditions of purchase, and stand-alone non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). Unlike other types of IP such as trademarks, copyright, and patents, there is no registration process for protecting trade secrets. In California, with its concentration of technology companies that are constantly advancing new products, businesses are vigilant about protecting their trade secrets. Trade secret law aims to protect the innovation involved in the development of trade secrets. Like other forms of intellectual property (IP), trade secrets contribute to a company’s competitive edge and valuation. Trade secrets are a form of intellectual property protected under common law, contract law, and statutory law. A trade secret is a piece of confidential or proprietary information – including a practice, formula, method, program, technique, customer list, or process – of a company that is not known publicly and that a company takes reasonable steps to keep secret.

15 music production software1/6/2024 The one other essential non-laptop component for music production is a USB audio interface this effectively outsources the laptop’s sound card and allows you to record electric guitars, microphones and other instruments into the computer, as well as hooking up a pair of studio monitors or studio headphones to listen back to your work. SSDs, on the other hand, are lightning quick but do cost more. Hard-disk drives are cheaper and can hold large volumes of data, but are typically slower which means streaming sample libraries isn’t ideal. Storage will come down to one of two options HDD or SSD. A laptop with 4GB of RAM will technically allow you to open music production apps like Garageband or Ableton Live and create short, basic arrangements, but you’ll quickly run into a wall where the laptop can’t cope with what you’re asking it to do. It dictates how large the arrangements you can create are, and how many audio files you can work with at a given time. For audio and music production we would recommend looking at Intel’s i5 line, or AMD’s Ryzen 5 line, although the lower-end CPUs will suffice if budget is a sticking point – you might just be staring at progress bars a bit longer. Intel and AMD have the monopoly here, and you get what you pay for. In music terms, this dictates how many virtual instruments you can run at the same time, or how many effects you can add, or how quickly you can export your finished tracks. The CPU is what powers the laptop as it processes commands. Where gamers or video editors prioritise graphical and visual elements, for audio we need only focus on how fast the laptop processes things (CPU), its short-term memory (RAM) and its ability to access data quickly (storage): Laptops used with music production in mind tend to focus on three key features CPU, RAM and storage. (Image credit: Getty/Jose Luque/EyeEm) What should I look for in a budget music laptop? On the Play Store there is a slimmed-down version of FL Studio which works a treat, while online you’ll find services like Audiotool and the Spotify-owned Soundtrap which give tech-savvy beatmakers the chance to produce tracks directly through a cloud-based browser interface.Ĭhromebooks aren’t going to be the first choice of most producers, particularly those recording and working directly with raw audio, but for anyone content to play around with loops and virtual instruments it’s definitely worth investigation. With Chrome OS, you are essentially limited to apps that can be found in Google’s Play Store, or run via a browser – assuming you don’t want to go down the Linux route, that is. But it does offer a glimpse at what the future might look like for computer-based audio production. It doesn’t have banks of power to draw from. The Samsung 4+ Chromebook won’t run regular digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Ableton Live, Cubase or Pro Tools. Nor have we included iPads or other tablets (bar the type in a 2-in-1 laptop) as they live in separate buyer's guides.īit of a curveball, this one. These are all current models and there are no Mac laptops included as they are more expensive machines - often worth it, but you wouldn't consider them a budget option. If you want to know what you need to consider when buying a cheap music laptop, head down to our buying advice section near the bottom of this article.Ī quick note on our selection. You’ll want to look out for USB connectivity in particular, for music making. These figures include the computer's memory size, hard drive and SSD storage, processor speed and connectivity. We've included all of the specs you need with each machine in this buyer’s guide so you can see how each machine compares. You can now make complete tunes on the train or bus with machines that not only cost less than the laptops of yesteryear, but also weigh less, are much more powerful and have longer battery lives. Laptops have come on in leaps and bounds since the days of heavy machines that were light on processor power.

Piranesi print sizes1/6/2024 This high level of visual detail is not seen in the elsewhere in the image and further works to make the viewer focus on the arch at the center of the image. Even within small areas of the arch, Piranesi uses several types of lines: an individual brick on the top left of the arch incorporates short lines resembling dots amid thick and thin curved vertical lines to create a sense of shadow and texture. There are curved horizontal lines up the length of the columns, short vertical lines emphasizing the shape of the pedestals, and curved vertical lines to create visual texture in the columns and bricks. Within the arch, Piranesi incorporates a wide variety of lines to encourage the viewer to closely analyze the structure. However, this pattern of associating one type of line with each element of the etching is broken when the viewer looks at the arch. Although Piranesi uses a variety of lines throughout the etching, each element of the composition is primarily dominated by one type of line: short and curved for the vegetation, thin, delicate, and flowing to make up the sky on the left, and densely drawn, thick, vertical lines for the building on the right. The small size of the etching invites the viewer to peer more closely to witness the detail of the lines Piranesi has skillfully used to construct the scene. Despite the structure’s height being equal to that of the arch, the arch remains the only truly vertical architecture in view, and thus the dominating image. The wall of the building on the right is drawn with a diagonal line rather than a vertical one. The small shed, the figure in the doorway, and the window sill are approximately level to each other and to the wall on the left. Conversely, the wall to the left is horizontal, and Piranesi creates a subtle sense of horizontal lines in the structures on the right. The columns and plants atop the arch create a sense of verticality and draw the viewer’s eye up. The image is nearly symmetrical, with the wall to the left and the building to the right balancing the central arch. The composition of the etching emphasizes the arch as the focal point in the center of the print. Purchased with funds from the Carnegie Foundation. Wheaton College (Norton, MA) Permanent Collection. Giovanni Battista Piranesi, “Arco di Druso a Porta S. What did these volumes mean to him, who did they bring into his world, and how can the process of making them be understood throughout his career? As the central thread that connects all spheres of his enormous ambition, Piranesi’s books reveal how the artist became the foremost printmaker in eighteenth-century Europe.Figure 1. Piranesi on the Page tells the story of the book as the centerpiece of Piranesi’s artistic production. Piranesi operated as a creator of prints, writer of texts, designer of pages-and sometimes as a publisher, dealer, and salesman. Making images and making texts were two separate processes, discrete enterprises that required different equipment and skills. Piranesi created twelve volumes that combine text and images, and to make them he thought in units of pages. But the single sustaining medium that he pursued throughout his career was the book. Piranesi worked in many media, including sculpture, furniture, drawings, and architecture. The pages he crafted became his most powerful and creative art form. Finding no opportunities to build, he began to make paper monuments in the form of books. Born in Venice, Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720–1778) came to Rome in 1740, seeking to become an architect. |
